Andrew Murdoch Follows Sail Auckland Win with Second at Laser
Nationals New Zealand’s top Laser sailor Andrew Murdoch couldn’t quite pull off the double following his Grade 1 ISAF Sail Auckland win and had to settle for a close second in a regatta that went down to the final race to determine the outcome. The Laser Nationals held at Kerikeri were sailed in very light wind conditions similar to Sail Auckland. Murdoch currently ranked fourth in the world and member of the Yachting NZ Olympic Squad said he felt both regattas were valuable for his training build up for the major regattas to be held in Europe later this year. These regattas will be followed by the Pre-Olympic test regatta in China where Murdoch won the Bronze Medal at last years event. Andrew leaves for Europe next month to compete in the first of the European grade one regatta’s at Palma in Spain which will be followed by the Hyeres Regatta in France |
